Sadly Almost Doesn’t Count!

Posted by thelense on Saturday, October 4, 2008

Today was a not so great day in Rattler Land. The Florida A&M University football team which had been doing great for the past few weeks finally lost a game at the hands of that stupid(1) South Carolina team. When I arrived at the game FAMU was losing. This immediately plunged me into a bout of minor depression. All I kept thinking was why’d i drive all the way to the game just to found out we are losing. But being the optimist I am I decided to hold out hope that FAMU would produce something great. 30 Seconds before halftime there wasn’t much promise. The score was still showing that FAMU was losing. Halftime came and went, the Marching 100 did their thing, Army ROTC was honored. All great! But the important fact remained FAMU was still losing. At the beginning of the second half things started to look promising. FAMU scored a touch down and then less than 1 minute later it seemed like they scored another. I don’t know what the coach told them but whatever it was it was working. We were BACK IN THE GAME the rattlers were in the lead. Sadly we weren’t able to maintain our lead and the North Carolina team took the lead and maintained it until the end of the game. As the clock finally played out the score was set. FAMU (21) and South Carolina State (28). I have never stayed to the end of a FAMU game since I been in school and oddly enough the first time I did was on a losing night. I am grieving right now and coping with things the only way I know how (By stuffing my face). What happens to a dream deferred is all I can ask myself now. Does life go on after a loss? Apparently so but for now i’m choosing to sulk over the football teams loss.

Final Score: FAMU (21) South Carolina State (28) which leaves us at 3-2

First Half

Second Half

In the game of football almost doesn’t count. And sadly FAMU almost won but it wasn’t mean to be. But much respect to the rattler football team I know those guys are working hard and have to be taking this loss bad.

(1) I dont really think the South Carolina team is stupid
