Rattler Football Victorious Again

Posted by thelense on Sunday, September 28, 2008

The Florida A&M Rattlers were victorious again, winning the ATL Classic football game by defeating Tennessee State. I have to admit I am really proud of my football team. The Rattler Football team is really doing it big this year and I wish them continued success on and off the field! I also hope everyone makes it home safe from ATL!

Final Score: Rattlers (28) Tennessee State (21)

Student Response

Posted by thelense on Wednesday, September 24, 2008

During the seminar there was this one young woman who asked a number of intelligent and articulate questions. I had the chance to ask what her thoughts were on the event that we had just attended. Intelligent and positive black women like this are yet another reason why FAMU is the best!

So there you have it, the event was a success! Keep up the incredible work sophomore class!

What Did The Parties Have To Say?

Posted by thelense on Wednesday, September 24, 2008

One of the coolest aspects of the political seminar was hearing from representatives from each of the two major parties. The sophomore class was able to secure two speakers to come discuss where the campaigns and the parties stood on certain hot button issues facing the country. There was a republican and a democrat and they both had some interesting things to say. After the republican spoke I was able to ask him a question (pertaining to why he thought fighting wars was more important than addressing domestic issues like poverty, education, economy, health care) and although he wasn’t able to answer it to my standard I still commend him on being passionate about his parties positions. He talked about dinosaurs though and that lost me lol.

Republican Speaker

Democrat Speaker

As far as who did a better job im going to go with the young man representing the DNC. The points he made wore more articulate and thought out. But a big thanks to both men for coming to the event.

The Build Up To The Event

Posted by thelense on Wednesday, September 24, 2008

The sophomore class in conjunction with BET Rock The Vote and the NAACP held their political event “5/5th’s of a vote” today. The event was setup to encourage discussion and dialog by representing BOTH political parties, views on topics such as the economy, housing, energy, foreign policy, and the war.The event also registered people to vote. I got their earlier so I decided to film some of the setup. Footage of the actual event will be posted in the future!

The sophomore class is doing it REAL BIG on campus.

Vote or Die!

Posted by thelense on Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Something else cool happened at the President’s Forum. The president took the opportunity to stress the importance of EVERYONE (who is able) being registered to vote. He took out his own voter registration card and encouraged us all to make sure we get registered before the October deadline. Its no secret that this election is one of the most serious in a generation. Its important that we all register to vote and also help as many others to vote as possible. I will personally be on the set from 9am-10m registering any and everyone I can to vote! It’s that serious!

Vote because your ancestors couldn’t (Reason Enough)

No Sign of SoulTrain

Posted by thelense on Tuesday, September 23, 2008

No day can start off right without sign of legendary snack man Soultrain. As I was walking across campus I was sure I was going to see the old guy setting up his snack stand but alas he wasn’t there. Maybe thats why its been so cold in the morning lately? The weather must be really pissed that soultrain hasn’t been emerging on campus like he used to. Nevertheless, I pressed on to my class but with a obvious gloom over me.

Also, It might just be a coincidence but on days that I don’t see soultrain I have more pop quizzes (im looking at you chemistry professor)!

Even the birds miss soul train, did ya hear all that chirping? They know what’s up!

Across The Tracks

Posted by thelense on Saturday, September 20, 2008

Woke up this morning hungry as usual so I decided to go out for food. Becuz I live on the “other side of town” I have to go to the ATM located near FSU campus to take out cash. This morning happened to be game day for FSU so there were lots of people in garnet and gold. I got bored so I decided to film it as I waited to use the atm.

Note: The white car at the end of the video parked in the middle of the road preventing me from leaving for about 4 minutes. I tell ya the nerve of some people!

Does anyone know why white people like sandals (flip flops) so much?

Set Friday – Lip Bite?

Posted by thelense on Saturday, September 20, 2008

There is this song that plays a lot on FAMU campus, and its one of the dopest songs I have heard this semester, it really gets everyone in the dancing mood. Unfortunately I dont know the name of it so I can only enjoy it when im on campus. Today the DJ played it and it has its own little dance that goes to it. The song goes “lip bite” atleast I think it does? But yeah as usual the dancers started jukin to it and I was there to record. I think the dance is called the “JIG” but im not sure.

Update: Apparently the name of the song is Lip Biting Animal, I gotta wonder though where was all these tips when I was trying to find out the name of the song for the last 2 weeks. Sigh
