Ernst & Young Stops By FAMU!

Posted by thelense on Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Anyone who plans on working in corporate America should definitely check out these three videos. The FAMU chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity hosted Ernst & Young for a campus seminar. Ernst & Young, which should be known backwards and forwards by any accounting students on FAMU campus, stopped by the campus to offer some tips on how to dress professionally. The speakers also gave a lot of quality interview tips and advice on how they got into the fields they are in and advice to graduating business students.

I believe most of the panelist were graduates of Florida A&M University, School of Business and Industry (SBI) and it definitely showed. The young woman leading off most of the discussion, I think her name was Kaamilah, has to be one of the most professional, articulate, and poised women I have seen in my life and I know a lot of that has to do with the fine education she received in SBI.

So yeah if you plan on going into Business field and especially if you plan on going into accounting, finance, or auditing definitely check out these videos!

Tips Before You Graduate!

Interview Tips

Final Advice

I’m not even an accounting student or SBI student for that matter and I was able to learn a lot from the event. So this is definitely good advice for any student who hopes to land a job upon graudation. Thanks to Alpha Kappa Psi for hosting this event!

President Ammons Hypes The Crowd!

Posted by thelense on Monday, September 29, 2008

Note: This was supposed to be posted yesterday but my blog tricked me and saved it as a draft instead of publishing it. It was only today I realized that the post was not appearing on the site. But alas here it is!

Florida A&M University 10th, and in my opinion most amazing president spoke today at the Obama Rally. The man is truly a great leader and I could see no better person being at the helm of FAMU. He of course spoke highly of the school and let the crowd know and Mrs. Obama that she was in Rattler Country. The day really just kept getting better and better. President Ammons was a great host!

Get like Ammons!

Posted by thelense on Sunday, September 28, 2008

The Florida A&M Rattlers were victorious again, winning the ATL Classic football game by defeating Tennessee State. I have to admit I am really proud of my football team. The Rattler Football team is really doing it big this year and I wish them continued success on and off the field! I also hope everyone makes it home safe from ATL!

Final Score: Rattlers (28) Tennessee State (21)

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Although I am mad I couldn’t get a shirt for my Mema. But what are your thoughts about the Rally?

Super Obama Supporter

Posted by thelense on Sunday, September 28, 2008

You may have thought you were the number one Obama supporter, but you have yet to meet this woman. I first noticed her when I got on campus and I thought to myself this woman has a lot of pins on her hat. Well after the speeches were finished I saw her again and had to talk to her for my blog!

I counted 13 pins, how many did you count?

The Moment We’ve All Been Waiting For!

Posted by thelense on Sunday, September 28, 2008

And like that, she arrived in front of a campus full of adoring, hopeful, excited, and energetic supporters. All gathering on the highest of seven hills to catch a glimpse of the soon to be first lady of the United States. The wife of the man making history all over the world. Yes, she is Michelle Obama and she took the city of Tallahassee by STORM today. Now there are times when a person is excited about stuff. But I can’t even begin to describe how it felt to be in the presence of Michelle Obama today. Its one thing to see her on tv looking beautiful and black but a entire new experience to be a few feet away from her. I was screaming and shouting like I was on the first row of a Michael Jackson concert. Michelle wasted no time in getting into the reason for her being at FAMU. She was there to remind everyone about the importance of this election. That a movement is happening all across America. In small towns, big cities. Young people and old people alike. Something special is happening. People are believing in hope again. She reminded us that her and Barack ONLY paid off their student loans a few years ago. And are only out of debt because of two best selling books he wrote. She knows that Barack will be a president who understands what it is like to struggle and be in debt. Unlike the rich and privileged John Mccain and George Bush. She also spoke about how her husband plays a small part but that we the voters are the real reason change is coming this election. To see for yourself all the great that Michelle Obama had to say watch the clip below!

And so it was written that I was there in 2008 when the first black First Lady of the United States came to FAMU! According to the Tallahassee Democrat there were *8,000* people at the rally! Its a movement!

She also spoke of the need for affordable education for all Americans. She said that her students were her greatest role models and that seeing them struggle to balance school, families, and jobs makes her want CHANGE in this election! Watch her speech below!

It was really cool of Mrs. Biden to shoutout the Rattler football team! And yes as she predicted they DID WIN!!!

Monique Gillum Speaks!

Posted by thelense on Sunday, September 28, 2008

Monique Gillum is best known as serving as FAMU’s student body vice president, but now she can be known as one of the many people responsible for sending Barack Obama to the white house. Today she gave an empowered speech about the need to not only register yourself to vote but also bring 5 other people to the polls with you. Monique continues to do big things in the community and I can’t wait to see her running for public office! The Lens definitely supports Miss. Gillum! Great choice to speak before Michelle.
