Marching 100 Adds Some Flavor To Early Voting
Posted by thelense on Wednesday, October 22, 2008
Once the rattlers arrived at the capital to early vote the Marching 100 provided some flavor for the occasion. Definitely added to the experience and just made the day even more exciting than it already was! Love my school, my band, and of course this historic election and the fact that I was able to participate.

FAMU Wake Up The Vote Rally
Posted by thelense on Wednesday, October 22, 2008
FAMU hosted a Wake Up The Vote Rally on Monday October 20th, 2008 to kick of the first day of Early Voting in Florida. City Commissioner Bill Proctor and many others came out to FAMU’s eternal flame to mark the historic day and prepare for a march to the state capital to cast their votes. Over 800 students took part in the march to the capital!
The city commissioner was decked in the most orange and green I have ever seen on person where seriously! That man rocks!

FAMU Relay For Life Kick Off
Posted by thelense on Wednesday, October 15, 2008
On Monday, October 13th, 2008 Relay For Life held its Relay Kick Off event in the grand ballroom. The event was held to welcome the student body to Relay and register teams for the Relay event in the spring. The event was a great success. The chair and co chair spoke, there was a student performance, a survivor spoke, and a prize give away. A really touching video was shown showing just how serious cancer is and how it affects us all. I encourage everyone to get on board with Relay For life! Cancer never sleeps people but Hope is Eternal! I was lucky enough to snag some time from the amazing Relay For Life event Chair and Co-Chair! Its a must watch you won’t want to miss it! Relay For Life going down March 27th & 28th, 2009 so mark your calenders!

And They Are Still Dutty Wine’n
Posted by thelense on Wednesday, October 15, 2008
I remember when the Dutty Wine dance first came out. Or rather I remember when I first saw it. I was browsing through youtube one day in 2006 and saw a girl doing an odd dance. Now despite me finding the dance odd I still thought she looked hott doing it so I was like hmm maybe it has a song to go with it. Long story short Dutty Wine went on to become one of the biggest songs and dances on FAMU campus Fall of 2006. Anywhere and everywhere you looked or didn’t look there was a contest going on. It was huge, it was everywhere, it was great. Apparently its making a resurgence on campus’s across the nation. Last Set Friday (the 10th) featured a sporadic Dutty Wine battle. I believe the girls dancing are in Kollage (FSU Dance Group). Of course I had my camera and the rest is history.
Note: The beat to the song is still as fiyah as ever though!
